VR ACE

VIRTUAL REALITY FOR ACCELERATED CAREER ENTRY FOR YOUNG JOB SEEKERS

Youth employability is a crucial priority for the European Union, which has launched numerous studies, policies, and initiatives to address this issue. Despite these efforts, specific challenges remain in achieving the intended goals. These include access to the labour market, a lack of multidisciplinary education and training, a shortage of opportunities that reflect young people’s needs, and the need for educators to provide real-life contexts and authentic learning opportunities to support the transition into the labour market.

Currently, there is no common and coherent methodological approach to ensure the effectiveness of existing policies at all educational levels. These problems significantly affect young people’s job search: one of the first challenges concerns successfully managing job interviews. With the advent of the pandemic, the increasingly widespread practice of online interviews has amplified the difficulties faced by young people, including:

  • Lack of interview preparation

  • Lack of confidence in their abilities, leading to self-doubt and difficulty in effectively presenting their skills

  • Poor communication skills, resulting in challenges in expressing themselves clearly

  • Skills mismatch

The project stands out for its innovative approach, as it leverages VR technology to simulate realistic interview scenarios, offering a safe and controlled environment in which young people can practise and improve their abilities.

OBJECTIVES
The project aims to address the challenges that young people face when entering the labour market, in particular their lack of success in job interviews. It will develop educational tools in the form of a digital handbook and virtual reality (VR) scenarios, with the goal of strengthening young people’s abilities when applying for jobs and passing interviews, as well as improving their transversal (soft) skills and thereby increasing their employment opportunities.
