SOCIAL PROJECT AND EUROPEAN DESIGN

Creating a meaningful impact on the local area and its social fabric is one of the cornerstones of Fo.Co.’s work. In this sense, we have always been committed to helping create the best possible conditions for the development and growth of the community, addressing social challenges and seeking to enhance overall well-being. Our strategic and systematic approach is grounded in the principles of participation, inclusion, and sustainability, with the aim of building fairer and more resilient societies.

To make this possible, our social project design focuses on the active involvement of community members at every stage of the process—from planning to evaluation—maximising the effective use of resources. Our interventions are structured to be inclusive and to reduce inequalities, because we are convinced that every individual, regardless of their background, should be able to benefit from our work.

Our projects adopt a holistic approach and are designed to be sustainable in the long term, both in terms of resources and social impact. They consider all aspects of the lives of the people involved, including economic, social, cultural, and environmental dimensions. Through active participation, communities gain skills and self-confidence, becoming better equipped to face their challenges and improve their quality of life.

In 2018, Fo.Co. “set foot” in Europe, launching project design activities under EU-funded programmes—primarily Erasmus+—aimed at promoting social, economic, and territorial cohesion among Member States, pursuing European-level goals such as:

  • social inclusion;

  • tackling poverty;

  • reducing inequalities;

  • supporting the integration of vulnerable groups—such as unemployed people, migrants, and persons with disabilities—into the labour market and society more broadly;

  • improving skills and employability among European citizens through vocational training, education, and lifelong learning programmes;

  • reducing disparities between the EU’s more developed and less developed regions through targeted actions that support local economic development;

  • improving infrastructure and promoting innovation;

  • promoting Human Rights and Equality by supporting gender equality and the rights of children, persons with disabilities, and other vulnerable groups, ensuring that everyone has access to the same opportunities and that their rights are protected;

  • advancing Sustainable Development by integrating environmental sustainability principles into all initiatives and promoting practices that respect the environment and contribute to green growth.
